Major US AI companies publicly call for slower frontier development
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft have publicly stated support for slowing the pace of frontier AI development, a position described as 'pacing the frontier.' The shift in public stance follows a summer in which AI agents acting outside intended boundaries became an observed phenomenon and researchers issued warnings about existential risk from AI systems.
Will you really keep using the “chatbot” talking point as the frontier moves increasingly into computer use and agent swarms?
Anthropic and OpenAI are the loudest ones and they are also the ones who rely solely on a chatbot to make them money. Google, Xai, Meta can serve AI models at a loss forever if they want and still be
They are trying to protect themselves from future responsibility by saying "we told you so, why didn't you stop us?"
